Coatings
Fastener coatings play an important role in protecting components, improving installation performance and extending service life in demanding environments.
Steadfast can support coated fastener requirements where corrosion resistance, friction control, anti-galling performance, chemical resistance or environmental protection are required. Coating selection can be matched to the material, application, operating conditions and project specification.
In-House Fastener Coating types
Xylan-type fluoropolymer
Low-friction, anti-galling and corrosion-resistant coatings.
Xylan 1014
Solvent-borne, resin bonded high temperature resistant coating, formulated to prevent corrosion and reduce coefficient of friction. Contains a lower ratio of PTFE compared to bonding resin relative to Xylan 1010, as well as a less porous surface & improved hardness.
Xylan 1070
Solvent-borne, resin bonded high temperature resistant dry film with additional corrosion inhibitors, formulated for use on threaded components to deliver a wide range of performance characteristics in multiple industrial applications.
Xylan 1424
Xylan 1424 is a line of waterborne, resin bonded high temperature resistant dry films, formulated to deliver a wide range of performance characteristics when used in multiple industrial applications. Offering controlled low friction with excellent corrosion and chemical resistance, they are usable as a stand-alone solution or as part of an overall coating system.
Electroplating
Plated finishes for corrosion protection and surface performance.
Zinc plating
Zinc coating provides a cost-effective layer of corrosion protection for fasteners by acting as a sacrificial barrier, protecting the underlying steel from rust.
Zinc phosphate
KeyKote® 36 is a heavy zinc phosphate coating that offers excellent corrosion resistance, lubricant retention and anti-galling properties, making it ideal for fasteners used in demanding industrial applications.
Zinc nickel / Zn-Ni
Zinc-nickel coating offers superior corrosion resistance and durability compared with conventional zinc plating, making it ideal for demanding environments.
Other coatings
Alongside our in-house processes, we can also supply a variety of additional specialist coatings, ensuring we can meet virtually any customer requirement.
Hot dip galvanising
A hot-dip zinc coating process that delivers robust corrosion protection, ideal for larger fasteners used in structural and offshore applications.
Sherardizing
A thermal diffusion zinc coating that provides long-lasting corrosion protection and uniform coverage for fasteners in demanding environments.
Zinc flake
A non-electrolytic coating system that provides exceptional corrosion resistance without the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, making it ideal for high-strength fasteners.
Examples shown above are indicative. Coating selection is matched to material, application, operating conditions and project specification.
